Rivuli and Me

Rivuli is the business site of Dr. Jeen Broekstra (see my LinkedIn profile). I am an independent technical consultant and software developer in the areas of Semantic Web technology and Linked Data. I live in Wellington, New Zealand.

Over the years, I have been involved in many projects with several organizations, as a researcher, software developer and consultant. To name a few in no particular order:

Aduna is a company which offers products and services for the exploration of data. Aduna are the creators of the Sesame framework. My personal responsibilities while working at Aduna included research, development and design of the Sesame framework and related technologies, as well as offering support and training services for Aduna’s various customers.

TUE – Technical University Eindhoven

I have been part of the Information Systems group at the TUE as an Assistant Professor, where my responsibilities included research into the use of Semantic Web technology in Adaptive Hypermedia, and of course teaching on Semantic Web standards.

Wageningen University – Food & Biobased Research

Food & Biobased Research (FBR) is a contract research lab under the umbrella of Wageningen University. As part of its Intelligent Systems group, I have been involved in various customer projects for knowledge representation and management using semantic technologies, including:

  • Tiffany, a Research Management system for experimental food researchers.
  • Emerging Risk Detection, automated information retrieval and deductive reasoning for detection of possible (contamination) risks in food supply chains.
  • e-Science in Agrifood, a project focusing on various tools and methods for e-science in the Agrifood domain.
